The Importance of a Final Walkthrough During a Move
Your house is sold, everything is packed, and it’s moving day. After a long day of hurrying to and fro, dodging furniture, and packing your car, it’s finally time to say goodbye to your old home and make your move to a new one. Before you drive away, you should consider doing a final walkthrough of your home — it’s critical to ensuring your home is safe, secure, and free of damage. Best of all, it will give you peace of mind as you start your new adventure.
Here’s Why a Final Walkthrough is Essential:
- Leave nothing behind: The last thing you want to do is leave behind boxes — or worse—sensitive personal information. Walkthrough, your entire home, starting from top to bottom, and check every cabinet and crevice. If at all possible, do the walkthrough with a partner. He or she may spot something that you didn’t.
- Ensure the property is secure: Whether your home will be unoccupied for a day or an extended period, assuring it is safe and secure from strangers, animals and the elements are critical. During your final walkthrough, make sure all windows are closed and outside doors are locked.
- Ensure the home is clean: It’s a common courtesy to make sure there is no litter or unwanted debris in your old home. You should remove coffee cups, paper towels, and corners full of dust.
Put a Final Walkthrough into Your Moving Plan
When creating your moving plan, make sure to block off the appropriate amount of time to do a final walkthrough. Knowing that your old home is fully prepared for the next owners will give you a great sense of closure and make your move much more rewarding.
